There's a new channel available for DISH, DirecTV and U-verse subscribers that caters exclusively to Sony titles.

Sony Pictures Television president Andy Kaplan says that the channel was created in response to a high demand for HD movie content. "Sony Movie Channel was designed specifically for the Hollywood movie fan, bringing our high-quality catalogue of feature films directly to viewers."

All films shown on the Sony Movie Channel will be chosen from a crop of over 3,500 Sony titles which have earned 184 Academy Awards between them.  Among the showcase films listed in the press release are 'Das Boot,' 'The Graduate,' Philadelphia' and for some reason 'Ghostbusters II.'

The Sony Movie Channel is available free to DISH Network subscribers for a full month and can be found on channel 386.  DIRECTV subscribers can find it on channel 563 and U-verse customers will need to go to channel 1791.
