Fans of the SACD format have a new player to drool over – the McIntosh MCD1100. It's just about as high-end as you can get and it offers amazing playback of CDs, SACDs, MP3s and WMA files.
A quick glance at the MCD1100 will reveal that it's definitely a McIntosh. It sports a glass front faceplate, big knobs, and the glowing McIntosh logo. The outside of the box is fantastic, but it's what's on the inside that really counts. McIntosh boasts that the MCD1100 will produce warm, rich and emotionally engaging sound without the need for a preamplifier. It utilizes four 32 bit/192kHz, PCM/ DSD digital audio converters on each channel in a quad balanced configuration and Pure DSD decoding for SACD sound. In addition to disc based media, you'll be able to play directly from a USB input that utilizes those same digital to analog converters so that you're getting the best possible sound out of your digital media. The MCD1100 will be available in November at a price of $10,000. |
