Nintendo came out with a price and a release date for their upcoming 3D handheld system earlier this week.  Japanese customers will be able to pick it up for 25,000 yen – $299 US – on February 26th, just a little late for Valentine's Day.

As far as the US goes, we'll be getting it sometime in March according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimes.  The price is up in the air, but based on the history of Nintendo's releases we may get the 3DS a bit cheaper than Japan.

The system plays 3D games without the need for glasses, but what's even cooler is the announcement from Fuiji TV and Nippon Television Netwok that revealed that streaming content will be hitting the system.  Every day, new 3D shorts will be available for 3DS owners as a part of a test program, with the potential for full episodes in the future.

There's no word on a similar tie-in in the US, but you can bet companies will be lining up.
