This week, take a break from the multiplex.  There's only one new movie showing there and it's bound to be dreadful.  Instead, head on over to that little two screen cinema and check out some of the smaller releases hitting this week.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

You may recognize Paul W.S. Anderson as the guy behind the 'Resident Evil' movie series, or the director of 'Alien vs Predator.'  You may have even seen the mindless 'Death Race.'  His latest, 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' is the fourth in the painfully bad film franchise.  The fourth 'Resident Evil' game was the breakout version that's often held up as the best of the series, but when it comes to the movie, you're better off staying away.

I'm Still Here (limited)

Remember that Letterman appearance where it appeared that Joaquin Phoenix went nuts?  He didn't answer questions properly and he talked about a planned hip-hop career – totally throwing fans for a loop.  'I'm Still Here' is either a documentary detailing Joaquin's meltdown or a mockumentary lampooning it.  Either way, it's worth checking out.

Lovely, Still (limited)

It's a definite break from the big action pictures of summer.  'Lovely, Still' is a film about growing old and finding love.  It stars Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn and features songs and a score written by Conor Oberst and other members of the band Bright Eyes.

Also Coming Out This Week

Race to Nowhere (limited)
