Just the words "home theater system" can be an instant turn off. They can put you in mind of those $500 boxes that contain a few cheap speakers and a DVD player with an integrated amplifier. It's the sort of phrase that dredges up images of Best Buy and Walmart.
Harman's home theater system is more than a little different. It comes with the THX Ultra2 certified SDP-40HD surround processor, a pair of No. 535H multichannel amplifiers, two S820 stereo/mono amplifiers and the SDEC4500 digital equalizer/crossover. It comes with some pretty impressive hardware in the speaker department too. You'll get three SAM1HF high-frequency horn modules, three SAM1LF low-frequency horn modules and four S4Ai MultiPolar in-wall surrounds. You'll also get a pair of S1S-EX passive subwoofers, each boasting an 18 inch cone. The system consists of products from both JBL Synthesis and Mark Levinson and runs $88,100. |
