'Apocalypse Now' sits high on the list of great films that haven't yet hit Blu-ray.  It's a classic, and it really demands a high definition version.  Thanks to a recent distribution deal with Lionsgate and American Zoetrope, it's getting it.

We're actually getting two separate 'Apocalypse Now' releases.  The first is a two film set that includes the original film as well as 'Apocalypse Now Redux.'  The second is the three disk Full Disclosure edition, which includes, among other things, the documentary 'Hearts of Darkness.'

Lionsgate will be distributing a 1974 film starring Gene Hackman called 'The Conversation.'  It's not quite the same name drop as 'Apocalypse Now,' but it's an incredibly well respected film.

The deal going forward makes Lionsgate the distributor of Zoetrope pictures in DVD, Blu-ray, VOD and internet sales.  Director Francis Ford Coppola is excited at the opportunity.  "[We] hope to continue to enthrall our existing fans while also reaching a whole new audience for these films by presenting them in the highest quality format available along with exceptional in-depth special features."
