The Vulkano is a singular device in terms of the look, but its functionality is familiar.  Using the Vulkano, you can watch and control your TV from anywhere in the world, just like you would with a Slingbox.  You can record programs on a hard drive up to a terabyte in size.  You can watch videos from YouTube, stream videos from your phone and to your phone.  It's all stuff we've seen before, but rarely, if ever, in one device.

The Vulkano is especially exciting if you use an Android phone or Apple touchscreen device.  For example, if you're recording an episode of 'Sons of Anarchy,' you can schedule it to automatically download to your iPhone or iPad as well.  When it's done, you've got the episode right there in a fully compatible video format.

It's an impressive device, and it's got an unexpectedly low price to boot.  You can get an 8GB version of the Vulkano for $259, while an upgrade to the 1TB model runs $379.  It's up for preorder now with an expected ship date of August 10th.
