Last week Marantz announced new universal players that handle everything from CD on up to Blu-ray, but if you're just looking for audio performance, a Blu-ray player is overkill.  Especially when Marantz has new CD and SACD players on the market.

The SA8004 is an SACD player that replaces the SA8003. It sports HDAM SA2 processing and a brand new super-precise drive mechanism.  You'll get a trio of audio inputs in coax, optical and even a front panel USB input that can act as a digital to analog converter for files on your iPod or other digital audio device.  You'll be able to pick up the 8004 in August for $999.

If you're just looking for a high quality CD player, the CD5004 might be what you're looking for.  It's got an SACD grade D/A converter from Cirrus Logic and the same HDAM SA2 processing as the SA8004.  It also plays back MP3 and WMA files and will be available in July for $349.
