When the TiVo Premiere debuted, it was plagued with performance and stability issues.  It didn't live up to expectations, and the folks at TiVo were very aware of the issue.  Not too long after they released the unit itself, they released a firmware update to fix the problems.

It helped, for the most part, but there are still issues of lagging menus and freezing systems that need to be addressed.  According to Margret Schmidt, Tivo's VP of user experience, a new patch is on the way.

The news actually comes from her Twitter account.  When asked about an issue of a freezing TiVo premiere, she responded by saying, "I suggest a reboot for now.  We anticipate releasing an update in the next two weeks."

The message from Margaret came on June 28th, so it sounds like an update is on the way.  Whether it will be enough is anyone's guess, but TiVo Premiere users can be assured that their concerns are being addressed.
