The latest receivers to come out of Onkyo are capable of a lot.  They're networked receivers, so you can stream music from your computer or an internet radio station.  They do 3D, iPhone playback and even multi-room audio.

Both receivers – the TX-NR3008 and TX-NR5008 – are equipped with eight HDMI 1.4 inputs and two outputs.  No matter what input you use, you'll get HQV-Reon VX scaling and processing that'll take even the lowest resolution up to 1080p.  You can also calibrate each video source independently.

Audio setup is simple thanks to Audyssey room correction and equalization technologies that are built in to both receivers.  And of course, there's support for the latest in lossless formats used in Blu-ray discs.

One of the points where the two receivers differ most greatly is in the transformers.  While they've both got separate transformers for audio and video processing, the 5008 adds a massive toroidal transformer and 22,000 uF capacitors. Both receivers will be available in August.  The TX-NR3008 will run $2,099, while the TX-NR5008 will cost $2,699.
