The McIntosh XCS200 was designed to complement the company's XR200 loudspeakers.  That's the intent anyway, but McIntosh says that the XCS is far more capable than traditional center channel speakers.

According to the company, the XCS200 excels as a left, right, or surround loudspeaker, so there's no limit to where you can place it.  It's got a frequency response from 80Hz all the way up to 45kHz.  They've got a custom aluminum enclosure crafted to resist standing waves and massive gold input connectors that allow for bi and tri amping.

McIntosh's XCS200 speakers have a pair of eight inch woofers behind a custom baffle housing, eight separate two inch midrange drivers and five 3/4-inch titanium dome tweeters.

"The creation of the XCS200 loudspeaker was a true labor of love," says McIntosh president Charlie Randall.  " Our innovative multi-driver approach," he adds, "offers wide bandwidth and is phase-coherent within the audio band for an astoundingly lifelike and non-fatiguing sound." You'll be able to pick up an XCS200 speaker for an MSRP of $6,000 when they start shipping later this month.
