There are plenty of devices that will play back your digital music, but there's very little that's designed to do just that.  The BDP-1 has only one purpose, and that's to play digital music in the most accurate and stable way possible.

Bryston's James Tanner explains that, "The BDP-1’s feature set is unique and we have found that it is most easily defined by clarifying what it does not do.  The Bryston BDP-1 does not contain an internal DAC, a hard-drive, a streamer, a CD player/ripper, noisy fans or switching power supplies."

The BDP-1 itself can be controlled by a networked PC, or a number of other networked devices, including the iPhone.  It doesn't stream from those devices though, since streaming large audio files causes problems. You'll be able to pick up the BDP-1 in late 2010 for an expected price of $2,100.
