The rumors are flying about Apple's next foray into the television world. And from the sound of things, it's pretty impressive – assuming you're okay living off of iTunes. The rumor is the next Apple TV will be based off of the same hardware as the iPhone 4. It will have the same A4 CPU and 16GB of flash storage. The idea is that you'll be living off of the iTunes cloud. You'll buy your shows and watch them streaming in 1080p, so you'll never actually have to download anything. And that's cool, potentially. The device itself, according to the site, will be the size of an iPhone, but without a screen. In fact, the only thing it will have is a power cord and a video output. There's no mention of what kind of output it will be though, so while HDMI seems most likely, there's always a chance that we'll see DisplayPort rear its ugly head. Price is where the Apple TV gets really interesting. According to the rumors, Apple is going to be selling it for $99. |
