Now those are two worlds I never thought I'd see collide.  It's been announced that Walmart will start carrying Onkyo products within the next few weeks.  And if that wasn't crazy enough, Onkyo will be producing two exclusive products for the mega-chain.

Both of the new products will be derivatives of existing Onkyo products.  The first is an A/V receiver that sounds a lot like a TX-SR308, which would make sense for the price point and audience.  The second is a home theater in a box solution that sounds an awful lot like the HT-S3300.

You won't see any of this on shelves though.  At this point, Walmart will only be selling Onkyo products online.  You're not going to see the high-end goods either.  Everything Onkyo sells through Walmart will be priced at $499 or less.

Onkyo sales manager Joe Petrillo says that other Onkyo sellers need not worry.  "Customers who might have never been exposed to the brand will have the opportunity to get a small taste of the brand," he said.  "Then, after their appetite has been stimulated, they'll be visiting your stores or e-commerce sites for their main course."
