There are a few great movies coming to Blu-ray this week, but what's surprising is the glut of awful movies hitting the format. 'Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus,' 'The Day the Earth Stopped' and 'War of the Worlds 2: Next Wave' just don't seem to justify a Blu-ray release. Read on to find about this week's releases.
Invictus 'Invictus' is one of the great ones as you might imagine. It's got Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela, and Matt Damon as rugby player Francois Pienaar. It's inspiring, it's moving and it's true. Clint Eastwood may always be more famous as an actor, but the films he's directed truly shine. He's even called out by Roger Ebert as "A master director." The New Daughter 'The New Daughter' is a movie that slipped under the radar, primarily because of its limited theatrical release. It stars Kevin Costner and Ivana Baquero, who earned quite a bit of praise for her performance in 'Pan's Labyrinth.' It's fairly typical for a horror film, but it's worth renting if you're a fan of the genre. Carlito's Way Al Pacino at his finest. 'Carlito's Way' is directed by Brian De Palma, who helmed 'Scarface.' It's a decidedly different movie, but just as memorable. It also features Sean Penn, John Leguizamo and Penelope Ann Miller. If you haven't seen it, now's the time.
