The fact that there's not a standard for 3-D glasses is ridiculous, but not quite as ridiculous as the workaround. If you're trying to use Samsung glasses on a Panasonic set, or Panasonic glasses on a Samsung set, there's an easy fix; turn them upside down.
If you're worried about looking ridiculous in your 3-D glasses, this isn't going to help, but if you really want to see that 3-D picture and you've got incompatible equipment, it'll work. It's not the most elegant solution, but it gets the job done. Samsung R&D chief Simon Lee says it's something the company was aware of, and something that should be a non-issue in the next few years. "I think that it’s likely," says Lee, "that the different manufacturers will come together, possibly as early as next year, to agree a common standard for Active Shutter glasses." |
