Google I/O is an annual web developer conference where people get together and discuss a variety of Google applications, and as might be expected, Android is a major focus this year.  In fact, Android may take over the event completely when Sony announces the first Google TV.

The new set will use a custom Atom processor from Intel and a new version of Android, called Dragonpoint, according to financial news site Bloomberg.  Neither company was able to confirm the plans, but it's become general knowledge that Sony, Intel, Google and Logitech have been working together on a new project.

Though several other large TV manufacturers have expressed their reluctance to jump on the Android bandwagon, Sony is leading the charge.  Their TV sales have been down in the last few years, and they need something to change it up.  It looks like Sony execs are placing their bets on Android.

The announcement, and further details on the set including a release date and pricing, are expected on May 19th, the first day of Google's I/O Conference.
