Panasonic’s 3D plasmas have been selling like crazy.  Whether it’s the rave reviews, the association with ‘Avatar’ or Panasonic’s marketing, the end result is that the company’s US allocated 3D plasmas are sold out.

In response, Panasonic is ramping up 3D TV production at the cost of standard television production.  "We've had a very strong reaction," said Hirotoshi Uehara, head of Panasonic’s TV division. "Our plasma panel factory is at full capacity but we've increased 3D panel production by 30 percent compared to our original plan."

Uehara hopes that 3D will soon spread from the entertainment sector to business and education.  Televisions, computers and even videogames have made the shift from entertainment to education and business devices, and that spurs a whole new sector of sales.

“My thinking is that 3D shouldn't just be limited to broadcast television,” said Euhara. It should reach a range of industries.”
