It’s not hitting US shores just yet, but the world’s largest commercially available OLED is now shipping to UK customers.  Of course, where OLEDs are concerned, the world’s largest doesn’t really count for much.  The 15EL9500 is a slick looking display that measures a whopping, for OLED, 15 inches.

LG’s OLED sports a 720p resolution and 3.2mm (1/8”) depth.  It’s incredibly slim and it’s pretty impressive looking.  It’s also got a 100Hz refresh rate and a response time of 0.1 msec.   While a 15 inch screen isn’t going to replace your living room set, it’s perfect for a bedroom, bathroom or kitchen.  In fact, the 15EL9500 is water resistant for that very purpose.

The new display doesn’t yet break the price barrier for OLEDs, but it’s priced better by square inch than Sony’s XEL-1.  While Sony’s foray into OLEDs sported a less than HD screen and cost $2,500 for 11 inches, LG is charging the equivalent of $2,700 for the 15 inch 15EL9500.
