According to the deal, Netflix will have to keep a 28 day window between the release of a film and the first day they rent it. It’s a similar deal to the ones signed by RedBox and Blockbuster, but it does start on a fairly unfortunate date.
The first film being delayed as part of this move is April 22nd’s Avatar. You can buy it any time after the 22nd, but you’ll have to wait a full four weeks if it’s on the top of your Netflix queue.
If you’re into Netflix streaming though, there will be plenty of new content from both Fox and Universal hitting in the near future. Perhaps most interesting is the bevy of Fox television shows like ’24,’ ‘Bones,’ and ‘Lie to Me.’
