Amazon is always good for a bit of excitement, and today’s no exception.  Now listed on the site is a trio of televisions from a company called StreamTV.  Never heard of them?  You’re not alone.  There’s little to no info on the company or its TVs outside of Amazon itself. Something like this normally wouldn’t be newsworthy, but the specs, and the prices, are incredibly intriguing.

The 42” model promises 500GB of hard drive space, presumably for recording live TV, a built in “Super Blu-ray Player” and 3D viewing without the need for glasses.  It’s got browsing capabilities using “Entertainment Portal” and comes with a remote, keyboard, game controller and a camera.  It’s also got a price tag of $5,999.

If you’re not into the whole 3D thing, the 55” StreamTV offers great bang for the buck.  It’s got all the capabilities of the 42” version, but without 3D.  You’ve got video conferencing and “500 free live TV channels” just like the 42”, but at less than half the price.  The 55” StreamTV is set to sell for $2,299.

The specs on StreamTV border the line between a connected television and an all-in-one solution that uses an actual PC.  Expect to hear something soon if this is legitimate; Amazon has the release date listed as May 7th, 2010.
