There’s no limit to the potential of a device sporting the Android operating system, so People of Lava’s announcement of the first Android based television should be met with excitement.  Not too much, mind you, since it’s only being released in Sweden for the moment.

The television, dubbed Scandinavia by the uniquely named company, is a full LED backlit LCD display that’s got Android under the hood.  It comes preloaded with the basics, like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and a fully functional internet browser.  Of course, those apps are just the start.  Since Android is an open source platform, television applications should start flowing in fairly quickly.

The first set coming out will be 42 inches and cost between $2,500 and $3,250.  After the initial launch this fall, a 47 inch and 55 inch set will be released.  There’s no word yet on when we’ll be seeing this in the US.
