There were a total of five HDTV lines announced by Toshiba today, but chief among them is the capable and slick looking UX600 series. The 1080p capable sets are available in 40”, 46” and 55”, all of which take advantage of Toshiba ClearFrame 120Hz technology.  Keep in mind, it’s a frame doubling technique, rather than a true 120hz refresh rate.

The UX600 series features CrystalCoat screen coating to increase contrast; AutoView, which analyzes ambient light and adjusts accordingly; DynaLight, which changes backlighting based on the incoming signal and the Pixel Pure 5G image processing engine.

Toshiba’s new sets don’t have WiFi integrated, but they do come with a wireless dongle with that’s WEP security compatible.  You can connect to a wide variety of online entertainment sources such as Pandora, VUDU, Twitter and Faceook, but no Netflix.

Toshiba’s UX600 series also adds Dolby Volume, which helps deal with irregular jumps in sound experienced in some movies and most commercial breaks. The UX600 line will be available this month at a price of $1,399 for the 40” set, $1,699 for 46” and $2,499 for 55”.
