It’s an award winning week for Blu-ray releases featuring a pair of movies with four Oscar nominated performances between them.  This week also marks the Blu-ray release of one of the most unique and well put together television shows out there.

Up in the Air

Jason Reitman’s amazing film will have you cheering for George Clooney even as he’s firing loyal, hard-working employees.  It picked up six Oscar nominations, but sadly no wins.  Vera Farmiga delivers a top notch performance, but the big surprise in this is Anna Kendrick.  From the best friend character in Twilight to an Oscar nod in one year – not a bad way to go.

If you watched the Oscars last night, you know just how much people love this movie.  It picked up six nominations and two wins; one for Mo’Nique’s performance, and one for the writing of Geoffrey Fletcher.  It’s a tremendous film.

Breaking Bad: The Complete First Season

The much awaited Blu-ray release of Breaking Bad is finally upon us.  You may have missed it since it’s on AMC, but this is the time to catch up.  It’s the story of a high school chemistry teacher whose life takes a drastic turn when he’s diagnosed with lung cancer.  In an effort to leave something to his family when he dies, he turns to the drug trade.  Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle) stars in this breakthrough television series.

Other Releases Include:

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
Capitalism: A Love Story
Evangelion: 1.11 You Are Not Alone
Hachi: A Dog's Tale
Old Dogs
Planet 51
The Stoning of Soraya M.
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Vol. 1
