Who said 3D TVs had to be expensive? Panasonic’s new line is set to launch this Wednesday at just half the price they’re selling for in Japan. The cut in MSRP results in a 3D television that’s not only reasonably priced, but not too far off from other new product release prices. Panasonics 50” plasma, for example, went for the equivalent of $4,800 in Japan, but the US price is expected to sit at right around $2,499.
If you pick up the 3D package that includes glasses and a 3D Blu-ray player you can expect to spend around $3,000. The VT25 series will start showing up in Best Buy stores this Wednesday. The rollout will start with more limited numbers – only about 300 stores in the initial launch. In the long run, the 3D televisions, and 3D demo stations, will be in over a thousand Best Buy stores.
