Things haven’t been going well for TiVo recently.  After an impressive first few years, they fell into a bit of a slump.  Customers are getting DVRs with their cable service, and paying extra for TiVo isn’t looking quite as attractive. But there’s a big announcement hitting on March 2nd that’s been strongly hyped by the company, and the expectation is that it’s something to do with the new TiVo Premiere.

If the leaked information from Best Buy’s internal system is any indication of the specs though, we may be in for some disappointment.  According to the information, the TiVo Premiere will sport a hard drive capable of holding 45 hours of HD programming.  It’ll do everything a TiVo does, including scheduling, season passes and controlling live TV.

The Premiere XL kicks the recording capability up to 150 hours of programming, which should be more than enough to satisfy most users.  It also adds THX certification, promising improved sound and video quality. We’re guessing TiVo’s got something else up its sleeve for the announcement next Tuesday.
