We’re about a week away from Valentine’s day, and there are a few Blu-ray releases this week for just that occasion. Couples Retreat
The reviews of Couples Retreat were a bit dismal, but if you don’t go in expecting too much, this rom-com could be a great movie to curl up with next Sunday. Comedic talent abounds in this film. Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau play off each other nicely, and Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) brings a few laughs to the screen as well.
A Serious Man
Variety’s Todd McCarthy puts it nicely in his review of the Coen Brothers’ most recent film. “A Serious Man”, he says, “is the kind of picture you get to make after you've won an Oscar.” It’s on the odder side of Coen Brothers movies, so don’t go in expecting “O Brother” or “Fargo.”
Bronson
If you’re in the mood for something a bit different, check out the biographical Bronson. It’s a British crime film starring Tom Hardy, who put on thirty pounds of muscle for the role. The movie follows the life of a criminal nicknamed Charles Bronson and mixes comedy and horror in a truly unique way.
