Low cost streaming devices like the Boxee Box have been getting a lot of love recently, and that’s not without merit.  Getting internet based video and audio content to your television efficiently and inexpensively is a great way to go.  The ZAGGbox is not one of those devices.  It costs a bit more, but offers a lot in return.

For starters, the ZAGGbox will still act as a media aggregate, getting all of your content into one place so you can watch it on your television.  It streams media from a PC, and plays content from USB drives and SD cards, but it’s also got a full terabyte hard drive built in.  That hard drive’s not just used for storage, you can record right on to it as well.

It’s got built in WiFi and a full complement of inputs.  It can act as a universal remote for connected devices via IR blasting through the use of an on screen display.  The ZAGGbox also plays back most video and audio formats.
Where it gets really cool is when you use the ZAGGbox as a media server.  The box can output two streams simultaneously.  The first stream goes straight to your television.  The second is converted to a format compatible with mobile devices.  Your laptop, your PC and your netbook can grab the stream easily. So can your iPhone, and soon after launch, you Blackberry and Android devices as well.

The ZAGGbox can be ordered now for $799 (thanks to a $200 preorder discount) and it ships this spring.
