A pair of new projectors has been announced by Cineversum as follow-ups to the Blackwing One.  Like their predecessor – which got a price hike at the beginning of this year – they feature 3-chip LCoS technology.  They’re capable of a picture up to 1808p and can adapt to cinema style twenty-four frames per second as well as the fifty and sixty FPS television standards.

Unlike the older mode, the Blackwings Two and Three sport a motorized lens shift of +/- 80% vertically and +/- 34% horizontally.  Zoom has also been motorized, and the ratio extended to 1.4 – 2.8:1.  They’re quieter than the earlier version, with a noise level of 19 dB – down from 20.

The place in which the Blackwing Three pulls ahead from the Blackwing Two is in contrast ratio.  While the Blackwing Three has 100 lumens less light output than the Two, it has a significantly higher contrast ratio.  The Blackwing One had a contrast ratio of only 15,000:1, and the Blackwing Two kicks that up to 32,000:1.  The Blackwing Three tops them all with an impressive 50,000:1 contrast ratio.

Both of the new models offer a pair of HDMI inputs, a component input, as well as ins for composite and S-video signals.  A PC input is not available on the Blackwing Two.  That honor, for whatever reason, is reserved for the Blackwing Three.

The new projectors are available to order now and will ship later this month.  The Blackwing Two will run $9,250 while the Blackwing Three will go for $12,075.  Models may be ordered in white, black, silver or chrome, and custom colors will be available at additional cost.
