Warner
Home Video announced the release of the first title in the new
HD-DVD/DVD Combo Format. One side of the disc contains the HD-DVD
version, while the other side contains the Standard Definition DVD
version. The film Rumour Has It will debut May 9th in this format.
This dual format HD-DVD/DVD disc was created to allow consumers a smooth transition into HD-DVD. Stephen Nickerson from the Market Management Team of Warner Home Video stated, "If they own an HD-DVD player, of course, they’ll get all the benefits of HD-DVD and be able to play the disc in existing DVD players. If they’re considering a future purchase of an HD-DVD player, they can still enjoy the movie until they upgrade.” In addition, Warner Home Video will release three new HD-DVD titles; Goodfellas and Swordfish on May 2nd as well as Training Day on May 9th. Goodfellas, Swordfish, and Training Day will retail for $28.99. The dual format edition of Rumour Has It will retail for $39.99.
Warner
Home Video began it's rollout of HD-DVD titles on April 18th with The
Last Samurai, The Phantom of the Opera, and Million Dollar Baby.
Additional titles are expected to be announced shortly for release in
May. |
