In this partnership, Olive designed a networked music server that connects to THIEL-designed loudspeakers.  The system is IP-based.  A minimum system would contain a pair of THIEL’s SCS4D speakers and an Olive 4HD Music Server.  Up to four pairs of additional speakers can be added to the system to create a multi-room music system.

The Olive 4HD music server has a touch screen control surface, which can also be controlled via iPhone or iPod Touch apps.  The system is capable of storing 20,000 24-bit HD audio tracks.  The unit comes with a built-in CD-RW drive for ripping music to the hard drive and burning playlists.  An HDMI connection allows the unit to be connected to an HDTV.

The THIEL speakers are IP controlled through an Ethernet port and are self-powered.  The bookshelf design allows the speakers to be placed upright or sideways, with only minimal time and frequency dispersion differences.  Frequency ranges as low as 48Hz.

The product will be available later this month and will retail for $7,900.  No word on the cost of additional THIEL loudspeakers.
