It is difficult to find a phono connection on a receiver these days.  And it is even more difficult to find a high-quality preamp on those receivers.  Pass Labs has the answer.  At CES they are demonstrating their XP-25 Phono Preamp.  The XP-25 has a new design, chief among them a separate chassis for the power supply.

The preamp is built for use with either Moving Magnet or Moving Cartridge turntables.  Rotary controls on the top unit provide the ability to change the gain, load and cartridge type.  The new design promises increased dynamics with a lower noise floor.

Other features of the XP-25 include two inputs, low-cut filter, muting and resistive and capacitive loading on the front display.  The unit measure 17-inches wide x 12-inches deep x 4-inches high.  The unit weighs an astonishing 55 pounds, which is more than most receivers.  The XP-25 is currently available and retails for an astounding $10,600!
