A pair of Epson’s 3LCD projectors got their THX certification today.  The 8500 UB and 9500 UB both feature a THX Movie Mode that delivers a more accurate picture quality.  The feature also ensures studio black levels and clean signal processing.

“We are constantly working to develop high-quality products that deliver the optimal balance of image quality, performance, display flexibility and affordability,” says Marge Ang, Epson’s senior product manager.  She adds that THX certification demonstrates that ethos. Matthew Chrispen of THX was quick to add that “Epson’s latest THX Certified projectors are engineered to [reproduce] color and black levels that closely mirror the filmmaker’s mastering studio.”

In addition to the newly announced THX certification, both the 8500 and 9500 feature the D7 chipset.  The 1,600 lumens brightness and auto iris technology included in Epson’s high end projectors enables a contrast ratio of up to 200,000:1. Both the 8500 UB and 9500 UB are available now through authorized dealers and retail outlets.
