Planar, through its Runco brand, has announced the availability of a pair of lampless LED projectors.  After showing the projectors back at CEDIA, Planar says that they received a tremendous response from dealers, as well as hundreds of orders.  The new projectors, known as the Q-750i and Q-750d, completely eliminate the lamp thanks to full LED integration.

The switch to LED not only saves energy, but time as well, as very little to no maintenance is required.  Additionally, Planar states that the Instant-on feature baked in to the new projectors eliminates the need for a standby mode. Planar’s 750i and 750d exceed the SMPTE requirements – a first for home theater front projectors – and offer the largest color gamut to date.  They also sport the Personal Color Equalizer(PCE), which allows users to adjust color settings to their own specifications.  The PCE works similarly to an audio equalizer, with different bands of color able to be raised and lowered.

Runco SmartColor (RSC) technology is also featured in each of the new projectors.  In order to keep image integrity after all this color adjustment, the RSC hue curve is employed to keep flesh tones looking like flesh tones.  RSC tech is another trick inspired by the audio world.  The Q-750i uses integrated video processing and sports an MSRP of $14,995.  Runco’s latest DHD controller/processor is featured on the Q-750d, which runs $17,995.  Both models are shipping now.
