RTI unleashed a slew of details on their ST-7 Universal Controller. The ST-7, which is slated to hit in early 2010, has been named the honoree of CES’ Design and Engineering Award for Integrated Home Systems. The highly anticipated ST-7 is more than just a standard controller. The new offering from RTI features a seven inch LCD display, with an integrated multitouch capacitive touchscreen. It sports integrated 802.11 WiFi capabilities and a full web browser. Low profile hard buttons surround the screen in a piano black gloss finish. The trackball has been integrated into the ST-7 that features customizable LED backlight coloring. The use of various colors is designed to help differentiate between functions. ZigBee RF technology is featured in the ST-7, which allows for wireless two-way communication between the controller and your components. Of course, A/V systems can be controlled by the ST-7, but so can media servers, thermostats, lighting and security. “We painstakingly designed the ST-7 to combine the sleek, modern industrial look that consumers crave, with the advanced control features, ease-of-use, and flexibility that they need” says RTI VP Pete Baker. “We are quite proud of the achievement.” The ST-7 is expected to sell for around $1,800 when it launches next year. |
