Bang & Olufsen Unveils the BeoVision 10
Home Theater News LCD HDTV News

The BeoVision 10 has been announced, and in typical Bang & Olufsen fashion, the television is being advertised as not a piece of home theater equipment, but a work of art.  A wall mounted 40” flat screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, B&O’s new LCD display isn’t anything new, though the bottom mounted speakers and brushed aluminum frame are a nice touch.

What’s different about the BeoVision 10 though, is an uncharacteristically low price point of around $8,700 USD. The main change here can be attributed to Kalle Hvidt Nielsen, CEO of B&O since May of 2008.  “I'm trying to help the organization to make the best decisions. Right now my gut feeling says to me that it was a very, very good decision to run with this TV” he stated in a recent interview with Netherlands based TV-2.

“I think gives a pretty good price staircase, which means that people will hopefully come in and look at it,” he continues.  “I am well aware that we do not appeal to everyone - we appeal primarily to the higher value segment, but within the segment, people can choose how much they will spend on a TV.”

Mike Gorick  - B & O do not live up to their promises     |2009-12-21 08:54:12
Please see attached string of emails worthy of OF BAD PRESS as Kelle Neilson's
word above does not hold good for me, I thought that you would like to
know.

Sirs

Without prejudice.

I have been in touch with
Mark James in Oxford.

I am afraid that I had to phone him having had no
further response from you following the exchange of emails below.

I have
received no communication as yet today.

Whilst Mr Kelle Neilson has
allegedly responded he has not telephoned me as I requested.

We had a
further failed re programming attempt on Saturday just because I was so
exasperated.

This has left us in a worse position because the TV has had to
be set to analogue to receive any transmission at all.

On Monday afternoon
not having heard anything and I telephoned again. The result of that was I
understand that the television is going to be replaced but awaits confirmation
of this a from a senior manager in the UK.

This would mean that I have to
wait, and I quote mark James ...'a few days', for the set to be built in
Denmark and then shipped. This had better be just a few days and given the
priority it deserves. I now also think that the equipment should additionally be
Blue Ray compatible so that the alternative technology may be used. Since
purchase we have discovered that far less expensive televisions are both HD and
Blue Ray yours should be too. Please see that this is now made available with
the replacement

I am now looking for compensation as well as the
replacement. We have not been able to enjoy the promises which your
advertisements, sales advisers and web site clearly state which as far as we are
concerned is misrepresentation. I believe it was August when we purchased.
Delivery took longer that promised. Therefore the whole saga seriously detracts
from your alleged reputation. The quality standards do not seem to extend to
customer service. The Sale of Goods Act demands that matters are dealt with in
reasonable time which has not been the case and your obligations under that Act
still pertain and extend beyond.

My assessment of quantum for compensation
is £2000 for loss of enjoyment in excess of three months, failure to deliver on
obligations as stated and as advertised, and the repeated inconvenience and time
loss through engineer visits. THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.
