Samsung Technologies announced late Monday that they will be delaying the US release of their BD-P1000
Blu-Ray player. Originally scheduled for a May 23rd release, it has now
been pushed back to June 25th. The reason behind the delay is to allow
time for a complete product testing. New test discs are being released
in late April and the delay in the player’s launch will give the
company time to work out any last minute kinks in the system.
Street price for the BD-P1000 is set to be around $999. The player will also include a memory card reader to allow for High Definition viewing of digital pictures. Last month Toshiba had also announced that they would also delay their HD-DVD player to coincide with HD-DVD title releases. Source: Reuters |
