Runco just recently announced plans to release a new series of entry level high definition projectors. Bearing the monikers LS-3, LS-5 and LS-7, the new line of projectors is intended to supply a quality HD picture at a value oriented price. Runco’s LS-3 and LS-5 projectors feature a single DLP chip and two lens options to suit varying room sizes. The prime difference between the two is in the lamps, with the LS-5 featuring a 180W lamp (230 at high power) and the LS-3 having a standard 230W lamp. The LS-5 features a contrast ratio of 481:1 and 751 ANSI Lumens, according to CSMS standards, with the LS-3 falling a bit shorter with a contrast of 385:1 and 691 ANSI Lumens. The LS-7 is the high end of the low end Runco projectors, and features a trio of DLP chips, rather than the single chip of the LS-3 and LS-5. It comes with six lenses and features powered vertical and horizontal shift. The LS-7 puts out a CSMS specified 1708 ANSI Lumens and a contrast ratio of 251:1. Pricing and availability for the new projectors are yet to be announced. |
