Looking to stir up a bit of competition and capitalize on the growing market for high quality iPod audio, Bose has released the SoundDock 10. Weighing in at 19lbs and measuring a full seventeen inches wide, nine inches high and ten inches deep, the SoundDock is impressive in size for an iPod targeted speaker system.

The system uses the proprietary Bose waveguide technology, and has reduced the pathing from 75” to 52”.  The SoundDock 10 uses an unspecified subwoofer and a pair of Bose Twiddler transducers to create a full range of musical reproduction.

The Bose SoundDock offers iPod and iPhone functionality but is incapable of media streaming from PC.  For an additional cost, a Bluetooth receiver can be purchased for added functionality with non iPhone media devices. Bose is up against strong competition as their SoundDock 10 is shipping at $599, the same price as B&W’s Zeppelin and $200 more than their new Mini Zeppelin.
