Today at CEDIA, Mitsubishi announced their newest home theater projector: the HC3800. Designed for video enthusiasts with a mind towards economy rather than luxury, the HC3800 will run about $1400 when it ships later this year. Using a Texas Instruments 1080p DLP chip, Mitsubishi’s new projector has a 1200 lumen brightness and a 500:1 ANSI contrast ratio. The HC3800 also boasts Diamond lenses and BrilliantColor processing algorithms.
The projector does feature Anamorphic Lens Mode 1 and 2 support, enabling simpler viewing video at a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. While the HC3800 is certainly not in competition with Runco’s Q750 line or Sony’s VPL series, it does bring a fairly robust feature set for the price. Mitsubishi is conscious of the state of the world economy, and priced the HC3800 to match. “We are excited to offer a wide selection designed to meet the needs of first-time home-theater and DIYers,” said Mitsubishi’s James Chan, “as well as enthusiasts who want the best they can afford without compromising on quality.” |
