I know that you are probably all mumbling and groaning right now, especially custom installers, but the HDMI 1.4 spec has been confirmed and thus we need to deal with it.  Sure HDMI 1.3 promised us DeepColor and we are still waiting for that to be implemented in software transfers.  So, why should we care about the promises that HDMI 1.4 brings to the table?  Well, simply because technology is awesome.

HDMI 1.4 was developed to allow the bandwidth needed to carry two 1080p parallel signals in order to create a high-definition image.  So basically, HDMI 1.4 is for that 3D HDTV that nobody owns and no one seems to be manufacturing.  However, if you want to "future-proof" your system (if that is at all possible) then NXG has the solution for you.

NXG Technologies has released the first HDMI 1.4 certified cable, ranging from one meter to 20 meters.  The cable is only available through dealers, but boy do they look pretty.  So work backwards.  Prepare the cable in hopes that the hardware will soon become available.
