NPD released stats from a recent study that claims that those who use Twitter purchase more digital music than those who are not users.  Active Twitter users purchase 77% more music than non-users, and 12% of those who report buying music in the past 3 months have used Twitter as well.

One third of Twitter users report purchasing a CD in the past 3 months, with only 23% of all web users agreeing.  And 34% of Twitter users have downloaded purchased songs in the past 3 months, with only 16% of other web users also falling into this category.  Twitter users are twice as likely to listen to music on a web-based music application, such as Pandora, than the average web user.
