Harman Kardon just announced the release of their first Blu-ray player, the BDP 1. Compatible with BD Live, this unit plays Blu-ray discs in addition to up-scaling DVD disc content to 1080p. The BDP 1 also allows for simultaneous playback of pictures and music (Jpeg / MP3) off discs or via a USB connection.
The BDP 1 accepts Blu-Ray Disc media, DVD/DVD+R/DVD-RW, CD/CD-RW, MP3 or JPEG files on disc. It outputs audio formats including LPCM, MP3, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD Master Audio and WMA. The connections include an RJ-45 for Ethernet, 1 HDMI output (version 1.3), 1 optical audio output, 1 coaxial audio output, component / composite connections and a front USB port.
