Oppo’s rollout strategy for its new BDP-83 Blu-Ray player will take its next step this month.  Between May 5th and May 15th, those who received invitations to purchase a player will get theirs in the mail, a move that follows on the heels of Oppo’s earlier, and even more exclusive, releases to select individuals in order to get feedback on the product.

Shortly after all the orders for the invitations have been filled, Oppo will begin shipping the $499 player to any other interested customers.  This player has a full feature list, including support for Blu-Ray; DVD upscaling; multichannel music support for SACD and DVD-Audio; 7.1-channel analog output; decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; and an included 6-foot HDMI cable.
