Goldmund, the Swiss audio company, has announced that a three year project is finally about to see the light.  The Telos 5000 amplifier will be shipping soon, at the hefty price of $189,000 each.  Only 25 units will be made, most of which have already been pre-sold.

The amplifier features nearly 10,000 Watts of power by using sixteen high-power transformers, designed to reduce noise and vibration by being molded into an epoxy mix.  The premium circuitry and other components used in these amplifiers may justify the price to some, but as only 25 people will get to own one, it’s doubtful if consumer reviews will ever be released to see how it compares to less expensive premium audiophile components.

My guess is that Goldmund will put a couple of Emotiva XP-1's in the case, weld
it tight and sucker 25 guys with too much money.

Really, who cares, I can't get 10,000 real watts by buying 10 real amps for a
whole lot less then that. In fact I could buy 20,000 watts in amps and have
enough left to buy a whole lot more top notch gear and still have enough to buy
a little car.
