The Universal Port from Onkyo, a one-cable connection for accessories built into its TXSR507 and TX-SR607 A/V receivers, is going to be experiencing a whole host of new applications.  An iPod/iPhone dock and an HD radio tuner are two of the newest accessories to be made available for the U-Port.

The UP-A1, retailing in May for $150, will allow users to charge and access content on their iPods (every model from the Nano to the Touch) and iPhones, including both the video and audio. The upcoming UP-HT1 HD Radio tuner module, retailing in June for $159, will give users access to high-quality radio as well as an extension that allows another device to be plugged in to the U-Port alongside the tuner.

Onkyo has also announced the release of its third generation DS-A3 dock/charger for Onkyo receivers that are not equipped with a U-Port, but still want to access video and audio content from iPods via the Onkyo remote.
