Settlement terms of more than $1 million have been reached between Toshiba DLP TV customers and Toshiba America.  The consumers who purchased certain models of Toshiba TVs filed the claim against the company in 2007, citing faulty bulbs that expired before the warranty explicitly or implicitly promised.

Many consumers purchased additional replacement bulbs, which also succumbed to the unexpectedly short lifespan of the originals.  More than 265,000 consumers are thought to have been affected by these bulbs.

Toshiba released a statement saying that it was aware of the faulty bulbs and had initiated a program in 2005 to extend the warranty on the bulbs from 6 months to 12, and has offered reimbursement to many consumers to compensate for the poor experience.
