The
new line of back boxes from Energy is designed to work with almost all
of Energy’s custom speakers including their EAS series, Reference
Connoisseur and Veritas Custom series.
These boxes are installed into walls before the drywall is put up and they dramatically reduce nose transmission to other rooms, making them very useful in condominiums or when a home theater is adjacent to a bedroom or office. These pre-construction back boxes are made of metal and are fully insulated. According to Energy they are UL and plenum rated, meeting most international building codes. They include installation hooks at the top or back depending on the model and allow for safe and simple installations in most homes. They also feature a wiring clamp for added safety. The Energy Custom Back Boxes will begin shipping in the spring of 2006 and will retail for $80 US each. For a list of Energy Custom Back Box models and the speakers they accommodate, see chart below.
