DisplaySearch announced to clients last week that Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diodes (AMOLEDs) have experienced a revenue increase of 110% in 2008.  This news, coupled with the fact that more seasoned display technologies have been on the decline, is a sign that the nascent OLED technology may become the next market king.

DisplaySearch predicts that OLED sales will skyrocket to more than $6 billion by 2015.  Sales are reported at $591 million for 2008. Currently, OLED makes up only about 1% of the flat panel display market, but will reach 5% by 2015.  AMOLEDs are set to achieve gains over PMOLEDs by 2H09, if they can reach a wider customer base through reduced manufacturing costs and other business measures.
