S1Digital is releasing the P500, part of their ProLine Series, with the custom installer market in mind. It's designed for whole-house entertainment, and includes the Xonar HDAV1.3 sound and video card from Asus. The card can output lossless Blu-Ray audio, a feat which is rarely handled properly. Most PCs must downsample audio from Blu-Rays because they lack the proper certifications.
The Xonar HDAV1.3 is being touted by Asus as an HDMI 1.3a compliant audio and video enhancement card. The P500 comes equipped with 4 CableCard HDTV tuners, a QAM/ATSC tuner, Profile 2.0 Blu-Ray Player, and large-capacity storage (3 TB total, 2 TB useable). It can handle HDMI, DVI, component video, digital optical and 7.1 channel analog audio. It features Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and the Vista Ultimate operating system. It retails at a starting price of $5,999, increasing with customization options available. |
